European BIM Summit 2015

From BIM to BEM

From BIM to BEM

From Information to Environtment

As nearer Europe is in front of 2020 climate and energy package, BIM is starting to adapt itself into BEM policy. There has been a recognized gap between the ‘energy demand’ of the government, in terms of project specifications; and the capability of BIM and the contractors in terms of technology ‘supply’ and indicators achieved. Information exchange between BIM and BEM is very crucial to ensure effective project planning and effective results delivery. The panel shall facilitate dialogues between the governments’ requirements and contractors and technology providers addressing issues such as collaborative and intensive information and calculation, technology awareness, capacity building and the best way to meet each other’s expectations.

Towards City Information Modeling

Towards City Information Modeling

First, great buildings came to be transformed into smart buildings and sometime later cities took this legacy to become smart cities. Smart cities need smart buildings and their smart construction. It would seem smart too that all generated data of this process could be interoperable without being a bottleneck. From the beginning of project planning to designing, it is crucial to use the same system by the developers, contractors and technicians to ensure open standards in construction industry. Interoperability strategy and its value is basic for city planning and city management.

BIM World Infrastructures

BIM World Infrastructures

Construction of infrastructure has two important paths: the challenges that produces every accident in the territory or urban area and how to make a project that will be useful for the concept Build and Operate. Geographical mapping will be added to city life. All the projects presented have had tight construction scheduling and estimations, and asset management will be addressed by the responsibles of civil, public and building operations but also to architects and engineers that design projects around the world. Three case studies will show how the biggest BIM project of the world, Abu Dhabi Airport in Arab Emirates have been managed, how a world football championship stadium has been managed and how BIM as a most updated technology has been used for a university project to be erected in Africa.

Europe’s BIM adoption

Europe’s BIM adoption

Data and figures

This plenary will feature top-ranked policy-makers from the leading BIM adopters in Europe, sharing their insights on how BIM policy has affected the delivery of projects by contractors in their respective countries. The talk will also focus on the policy framework, implementation challenges, and resource management to overcoming legacy bottlenecks. Their successful adoption shall promote more BIM policy formulation in other European countries.

Implementing BIM

Implementing BIM

Pushing forward the Building Sector

The major worry about BIM departs from the point when it has to be achieved as a recommendation or obligation in Europe, inside the policies of a specific country or region and, into processes of a building company. What is Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 when we talk about BIM?

You will see how a multinational furniture company as IKEA has developed a new housing division using BIM.
